Training Room

The Training Room is located on the 2nd floor of the Babson Library. It was established to provide computer training workshops for faculty, students and staff.

Equipment

The room is equipped with 22 workstations (15” flat panel monitor) plus 1 instructor workstation (DVD Drive, CD R/W Drive), a VGA connection for a presenter laptop is also available, two data projectors, a VCR, sound system and a network printer.

General Use Policies

  1. The Training Room hours of operation coincide with the Babson Library computer lab hours.
  2. The Training Room key must be signed out and returned to the Information Desk (1st floor) by an instructor.
  3. While using the Training Room, instructors are responsible for all equipment.
  4. Before a class is dismissed, instructors must ensure that all workstations and data projectors are turned off.
  5. Downloading and/or installation of any software or files unrelated to the instruction session is prohibited.
  6. The library is not responsible for data saved to the hard drives of the computers. Saved files are deleted when the computer is turned off.
  7. No food or drink is allowed near computers.
  8. Users of the Training Room are expected to comply with the Responsible Use of Information Technologies at Springfield College.

Training

To use the Training Room most effectively, instructors are strongly encouraged to attend a 15 minute orientation session to become familiar with the equipment, software, and lab policies and procedures. Users are expected to set up and use the equipment without assistance from Library staff.

Scheduling Procedure

  1. Use of the Training Room will be granted based on the following priority order:
    1. Library instruction presented by faculty, librarians, or a faculty/librarian team
    2. Springfield College faculty and/or staff presentations, training, etc.
  2. Scheduling conflicts will be resolved by the library staff in accordance with the Training Room’s priorities.
  3. The Training Room cannot be used as a classroom for reoccurring schedulable courses. Use of the Training Room for a short series of classes can be scheduled at the discretion of the library.
